Craft Sale and a little more....

Judith Ann Walsh
1939-2014
I'm sorry that I have not written about this sooner.  I just didn't know how.  It's been a long, sad winter at our house.  My wonderful, crafty Mother contracted a rare strain of pneumonia in mid-December and after 22 days in ICU, she passed away with her family by her side on January 10th.  My heart was touched by the outpouring of love and support for her...especially from some of my special stamping customers (aka friends) that also knew her.

My youngest sister, Megan, has a beautiful craft blog, and she has written some beautiful posts about our mother. You can find her Mother's Day post here and a "in the thick of it" post here...followed by a tribute here.  She will be missed. She was amazing.

The one theme that you see in my mom was her crafting. As we prepared for the Visitation and the Funeral, we pulled together a sampling of all of her crafts throughout the years. My own children, who were in her house every week/month for the last 8 years, had no idea she painted the paintings on the wall in the dining room. Or that she made the yellow rose lamp that hangs over the kitchen table.  Her talents (and craft supplies apparently) were endless.

Here are a few of my favorite things she has made for me and my children.  Ben's bear sweater (he is now 16!), the dolls she made me (Raggedy Ann and Holly Hobbie!) and Irish sweaters for the whole family...in multiple colors.

And there's so much more.... which brings me more to the point of this post.

My mother was an eternal crafter. She started long, long ago with knitting and needlepoint...moved on to painting, flower arranging, and sewing.  (She makes Rapunzel look bored!).  The later years were filled with costume making, more knitting, stained glass...more knitting, more sewing, and then on to prolific quilting.  Her house overfloweth with wonderful things to use with her unending creativity.  And I do mean overfloweth!!  So yes, now that she has left us, we have carefully sorted and inventoried and are having a
